Is Waze accurate with traffic?
Generally speaking, both apps rely heavily on real-time data they provide from users, especially Waze, whose entire idea is built around community-provided information. As a result, Waze provides its users with accurate directions, alternative routes, road hazards, and traffic incidents.
While both apps are great to get you quickly through city's traffic, Google Maps is the more comprehensive navigation service, while Waze is the real-time road assistant. Google Maps is like a traditional GPS — its goal is to get you from A to B using the smartest route.
What Are the Cons of Waze? Some users may find Waze a distraction, and that's not a good thing on a crowded road. Friends pop out at you from your screen, points ding as they accumulate, ads pop, drive-by incidents beg to be reported, and your route can be re-routed at any time.

Most users think OsmAnd is a great alternative to Waze. It's an Open Source alternative and offers offline navigation, too.
There is an app better than Waze. A common Waze alternative is Google Maps because it's free and easy to use. Google Maps isn't the only great Waze app, either. There are other great apps, such as Here WeGo, OsmAnd, Organic Maps, that you can use instead of Waze.
Because of the social features, Waze offers better routes to avoid traffic and potholes (or have their time wasted because you get pulled over for a ticket). There are so many other new features that come standard, all of which provide a huge upside to you and the rider. However, Google Maps is still very reliable.
In most cases, I prefer Google Maps because of its accurate traffic measure, public transport, and offline downloading. Still, those who travel regularly should consider Waze because of reports, vehicle speed, and speed camera warnings. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
Waze ran a dedicated carpooling app, Waze Carpool, which was first launched in 2016 and was available in the USA, Brazil, and Israel. Google has announced that the app will be retired in 2022, citing COVID-related changes in commuting patterns that led to a sharp decline in carpooling.
So what the officers do is this: while driving around on patrol, they open Waze, and every so often report their presence as they go, placing markers on the map. Nearby drivers see these icons and slow down in hope of avoiding getting a fine.
Does Waze warn you about cops?
No, it just shows you the cops that Wazers have seen and reported. Waze is really popular though so most cops do get reported. Was this worth your time?

However, Waze is also among the best traffic apps. Since it's perhaps the best navigation app available, most of the routes it takes drivers on avoid traffic jams. If the fastest route takes you through traffic, however, you will be notified: The GPS will show you your route and the traffic on each stretch.
Apps like Waze, Google Maps, and Apple Maps may make traffic conditions worse in some areas, new research suggests.
In summary: Both apps take into account traffic, hazards (including accidents), police traps, blocked roads, and weather conditions, but Waze displays these in a clearer way. Waze focuses more on ETA, while Google Maps provides the most all-around efficient route.
Waze – crowdsourcing for the winWithout a doubt, the best alternative to Google Maps when it comes to traffic information is Waze. Also owned by Google, Waze can predict the traffic you would come across on a configured route in a way that's often incredibly accurate.
The Waze deal will help Google enhance its own mapping service with a wealth of real-time data on the best drive route to take and traffic.
Using Android Auto for a long road trip is wonderful. Both Waze and Google Maps can do a fantastic job of getting you where you need to go.

What does Waze stand for?
In 2008, the team expanded to include LinQmap with Uri Levine and Amir Shinar and officially changed its name to Waze – a play on the word ways, as in the variety of ways one can take to get to any given location.
The six-year-old service is shutting down due to shifting commuting patterns as a result of the pandemic, the company says.
"Google's acquisition of Waze gave birth to 50 other Israeli unicorns"
Noam Bardin, the CEO of the crowdsourced navigation firm Waze, spent seven years at Google growing his Israeli-founded firm after it was acquired by the tech giant for over $1 billion in 2013.
No, they can't do it. The only way to remove (thumb down) a report is when one is driving in the direction of the report. It's barely imaginable that they bypassed themselves with their car. Most likely in that 15 minutes until the report is live noone "liked" (thumb up) that so it was removed automatically.
